Barbecued Beef [pulgoki]
For all you meat lovers, here is a barbecued beef marinated with special Korean sauce.
Grilled over hot charcoal, the meat will melt in your mouth.
Ingredients (4 servings):
1/2 lb. thinly sliced beef rib steak
1 t of roasted sesame seeds
finely chopped green onion
vegetables of your choice (onion, green pepper, green onion, egg-plant or green pumpkin slices)
Marinade ingredients:
1/2 medium size apple, sliced
1-oz of ginger root, thinly sliced
1-oz of garlic, minced
2 cups of soy sauce
1/2 cup of cooking wine
1/4 cup of water
6.5-oz of sugar
Procedures
- Making the sauce: Mix all the marinating ingredients
- When ready to use, strain the sauce and add roasted sesame seeds and chopped green onion.
- Pour the sauce over the beef. Rub sauce into beef with fingertips. Marinate it for at least 1 hour.
- Heat the grill over a charcoal fire. Then barbecue the beef. Use frying pan or an oven broiler if
you don't have a pulgoki grill. Serve immediately.
Preheat grill well, and then put pulkoki on. Turn over when one side is done; avoid turning again since the meat
loses its flavorful juice and becomes too crusty. It is your choice to grill vegetables with pulkokui. You may add
onions, zucchini, green onions, bell peppers and more.
